The secretariat of TUCMUN I is proud to present the first iteration of JR Tucker High School’s Model United Nations Conference! During the 2023-2024 school year, our Secretary General Disha Garg started attending Model UN conferences across Virginia and was inspired to start one for her own school. All the pieces fell into place as time went on as Disha proposed it to our sponsor, Mr. Jones, and started to assemble a team to tackle this project. After countless applications and interviews, the dream team convened. Ever since, the TUCMUN I secretariat has put in our blood, sweat, and tears to bring this conference to life. From fundraisers to lots of meetings, we have put in countless hours over the last few months to make this dream come true and could not be more proud to see what our hard work has amounted to.

The theme of TUCMUN I is “Roar the truth”. The secretariat chose this theme to inspire delegates present at this conference to build and discuss diplomatic arguments towards the truth and the root of the problem. Whether the issue is from the past, present, future, or a fictional world, it is always important to uncover the truth. We encourage delegates to connect this year’s theme to their resolutions to emphasize the importance of truth. TUCMUN wants delegates to understand the roots of the United Nation and diplomacy. It believes that it starts from the truth which is why each country has the passion to advocate for its rights, discuss controversial topics that provoke tension and make alliances for its betterment at the end. TUCMUN aspires delegations to get inspired and replace themselves into the real world to understand the magnitude of the committee they are in while they form resolutions, discuss issues and advocate for the truth.
