A Message of Impact

Matt Waring serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity. He leads the organization’s operational strategy, guiding cross-departmental execution in affordable homebuilding and home preservation, ReStore retail operations, and administrative functions to advance the organization’s impact across the greater Richmond region.

The son of a local single-family housing general contractor, Matt’s appreciation for construction started at an early age. After attending J.R. Tucker High School, he received his bachelor’s degree from Hampden-Sydney College. He has spent his career in the construction industry with a focus on housing, sustainability, and energy efficiency. He joined Richmond Habitat as Vice President of Construction and Real Estate in 2022 and introduced more innovative designs to Richmond Habitat homes.

Matt’s combination of operational leadership, construction expertise, and commitment to affordable housing strengthens Richmond Habitat’s mission to partner with families, volunteers, and community partners to build homes, communities, and hope.
