Welcome Letter
Dear delegates, sponsors, and guests of TUCMUN,
It is with great honor and excitement that I announce Tucker’s very first Model United Nations conference, TUCMUN I, to be held on April 18 and 19, 2025, at John Randolph Tucker High School. I am privileged to serve as Secretary-General for this inaugural event, and it brings me immense pride to present what our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to build.
Though TUCMUN is new to the Model UN circuit, our ambition is to stand proudly alongside the many distinguished conferences held annually throughout the Greater Richmond area. Our mission is to create a space where delegates can engage with complex and often controversial global issues, advocating, strategizing, and discovering solutions that resonate far beyond committee sessions.
This year, TUCMUN will feature nine dynamic committees designed by our Under Secretary Generals for General Assemblies, Specialized Agencies, and Crisis Simulations. These committees offer delegates unique opportunities for learning and growth. Our General Assemblies will emphasize diplomacy, challenging delegates to examine major international issues and see the world through the eyes of global leaders. On the other hand, our Crisis Committees will place participants in high-pressure environments, from historical simulations to the ever-evolving intensity and unpredictability of the Ad Hoc committee, revealing the complexity of leadership in times of conflict. Specialized Agencies will be a perfect mix of the two as it will combine GA-style structure with the fast-paced nature of Crisis while delving into niche topics in committees such as the Global Entertainment and Media Council. Finally, our fictional Specialized Agency, The Council of Gods on Mount Olympus will allow delegates to immerse themselves in Greco-Roman mythology and the universe of Rick Riordan’s coveted Percy Jackson series through imaginative and engaging debate.
The theme of TUCMUN I is "Roar the Truth", a call to action encouraging delegates to speak boldly, champion their convictions, and pursue truth with integrity and courage. I urge each of you to seek out truth throughout your time at TUCMUN and to recognize the lasting impact of honest, principled dialogue. May this theme inspire not only meaningful committee sessions but also personal growth that endures long after the closing gavel.
Additionally, we are proud to partner with FEEDMORE, a local nonprofit committed to fighting hunger and supporting food security across our region. Through this collaboration, TUCMUN extends its impact beyond our school walls and into the broader community. I encourage you to contribute by making donations or purchasing items from our charity cart. Every act of generosity helps make a difference.
TUCMUN’s journey is just beginning. I hope and believe that it will someday grow into a defining tradition of the Tucker experience and even become a launching pad for future leaders who share a passion for global awareness and meaningful change. On behalf of the entire secretariat and staff, I am thrilled to welcome you to this exciting first chapter.
We can’t wait to see you bring TUCMUN I to life, and I hope you find as much joy in participating as the secretariat and I have in making it happen.
Sincerely,
Disha Garg
Secretary General
